As lead Convenor, the Zonta Club of Makati & Environs spearheaded the Summit on Gender Equality in the Work Place-Business Sector’ as the club’s culminating activity for the 16 Days of Activism Gender-based Violence. This event was held on Dec. 9, 2016 at the JYD Hall of Security Bank Building in Makati City. This Summit is the first endeavor in Zonta International Dist. 17 to primarily focus on the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), a set of Principles for business, offering guidance on how to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community. The highlight of the Summit was the Signing of the Statement of Support for Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), the primary way in which companies and organizations can engage through the WEPs, expressing their commitments to advancing equality between women and men in the workplace, marketplace and community. Participants and Signers of the Statement of Support for WEPs were business leaders and heads of professional and socio-civic institutions in the Philippines as well as representatives of different Zonta Clubs.
